Even Poetry

Even poetry isn’t this unpopular,
So I guess it’s me.
First you’re alone, is the first thing we learn,
Then others die and you feel a greater sense of it.
Then after all you die and you’re alone again.
Like an actuarial clerk, I spend more time
Keeping track of life with pencil and ink
Than living.

  1. This reminded me of a quote from a TV film (mini-series?) we watched a couple of days ago -
birth to death, a voyage between two eternities. From "Broken Trail" - very enjoyable - almost (but not quite)in the same league as "Lonesome Dove".

  2. I've run across the middle of that movie twice now, so still haven't seen the beginning. It seemed very good to me, even though I had no idea what had gone before. Maybe someday I'll see it all.
