Curiouser and curiouser?

I'm a bit nonplussed by this notion of the "followers" that Blogger recently introduced. I already use Bloglines to do my "following" of other blogs and those who are interested were mostly already following me in some manner. How this Follower crap improves things, I cannot guess. No doubt, it is explained somewhere, but it doesn't look all that interesting. Possibly hundreds of years could pass before I'd get that curious. I believe in curiosity, I think it's a good thing. But we don't need to be curious about Everything, do we? I thought not.

p.s. I note that so far I only have 2 defined "followers", and those are attached to "Most Frequent Blogger Questions", not to "The Rat Squeaks". I don't create new posts for MFBQ very often, so that seems like a waste of a Follower's time! It doesn't sound very promising to me so far.

  1. I've noticed those, but have never noticed that I'm listed as following any blogs, even though I may read them everyday.

Perhaps you can't be a blogger until you post a photo, and I've never felt the need to do that.

  2. I'm not sure about that. Five years ago I was so interested in Blogger and blogging that I would have wanted to know the details about everything or, at any rate, anything, but now I'm way more jaded.

If i don't NEED to know, I apparently don't want to be bothered with it at all!

  3. Is it those little graphics of heads on the initial screen when you log in? I see 2 on mine, but I haven't bothered to see what it's all about. I can't be doing with investigating who's reading (or not, as the case may be).

I try to avoid those blogs with widgets which show, in real time, who is reading and where they are from....it's a bit like Big Blog Brother.

I just want to write my drivel then leave it lying there for whomever. A quick glance at Stat Counter now and again is all I can stomach. ;-)

  4. I think the answer to your question is YES. There is some way of "blocking" one or more in the Dashboard, though I have no interest in doing so. Just let 'em go, there's always some computer geek more clever than you and me, anyway!

  5. I haven't figured out most of blogger's features. I just do what I want when I want and fuck the rest.
