According to mediums the dead do manage it sometimes - and with considerably more success than the old when trying to contact the young, I'd wager. :-)
Babies sometimes fall on their heads and survive into teenage years, and some of those teenagers survive their car crashes without serious injury. But then, just a few of those Immortal Beings come out of those wrecks like spaghetti and meatballs from a thresher. Every once in a while (and it only takes once, no second chances).
